About this site
What does this site do?
Section titled “What does this site do?”Net Residents collects practical information on keeping a legal digital presence in a country or region you do not live in: bank accounts, mobile numbers, payment apps, brokerage accounts, companies and tax IDs. Guides are organised by region and by level, so readers know the requirements, costs, risks and obligations before they start.
How is content written and verified?
Section titled “How is content written and verified?”- Primary sources first. Key facts (eligibility, documents, fees, deadlines, penalties) link to the bank’s terms, fee schedules, and government or regulator pages.
- Independent checking. After a guide is written, every claim is checked again against official sources; details that cannot be verified are removed or marked as “check the latest official announcement”.
- Verification dates. The “last verified” date at the top of each guide is the last time the whole guide was checked against official sources; fixing typos does not change it.
- AI assistance. Some first drafts and research were assisted by AI tools; every fact must be checked against official sources before publication.
Languages
Section titled “Languages”- Traditional Chinese is the original. The Simplified Chinese edition is converted automatically (OpenCC with a glossary); if wording differs, the Traditional Chinese version prevails.
- English translations are in preparation; untranslated pages show the Chinese original.
